UPDATE: Battlegrounds Mobile India fixes data sharing issue with China servers.
Original article

Banned PUBG Mobile recently announced as Battlegrounds Mobile India is available as early access for Android users in India. In just the span of two days, the game managed to get over 5 million downloads just as early access. However, the ban rumors are still around the game, and BGMI has confidently stayed available for its players. And in no time, we hear new statements saying Battlegrounds Mobile India found sending data to servers in China. It is kind of not healthy for the game’s official launch in India. Previously, the game agreed to cut all its strings with China just to make a comeback in India.

Battlegrounds Mobile India found sending information to servers in China, including servers of Tencent and even the Chinese state government. Folks at IGN India reported that various players have claimed that their data is being sent to servers in China. However, IGN also investigated the matter by installing a data packet sniffer app used during the BGMI game. It found that the data sent and received by the Battlegrounds Mobile India routed from China Mobile Communications servers in Beijing, the Tencent-run Proxima Beta in Hong Kong, and Microsoft Azure servers located in the US, Mumbai, and Moscow.

Battlegrounds India Privacy Policy about International Data Transfers

The privacy policy of Battlegrounds Mobile India claims that “personal information will be stored and processed on servers located in India and Singapore.” But Krafton also mentioned that it “may transfer your data to other countries and/or regions to operate the game service and/or to meet legal requirements.”

And Krafton clearly states that they will ensure the information receives the same level of protection as if it remained in India.

The game in India is available as early access for now and is yet to release for all devices and users. The news might raise some questions against the new game. But, Battlegrounds Mobile India is not so far from its official full game release.

So, that’s been it. Thank you for reading, and do share the article if you get a bit piece of information. Also, keep an eye on this space for more relevant updates. Stay safe, and we hope to see you around.
