The latest Pokemon film, Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, is about to release globally on Netflix on Friday, October 8, 2021. Niantic is celebrating the movie release with a special event. Pokemon GO adds the Dark/Grass-type Mythical Pokémon Zarude, which features in the movie, to the game. Not only that, but Niantic is also bringing some featured Pokémon from the film during the event. Jessie and James are also returning to Pokemon GO. Explorer Pikachu will be making its return to Pokémon GO. If you’re lucky, you may get a chance to encounter Shiny Explorer Pikachu ✨ and/or Shiny Larvitar ✨.
Limited-time Special Research
A limited-time Special Research story will be available in the event time. Complete this research line to encounter Dark/Grass-type Mythical Pokemon Zarude.
Trainers can only obtain this Special Research during the event. Once obtained, you can complete it at any time.

Other Bonuses
- Jessie and James are returning to Pokémon GO. Meowth Balloons will appear in the sky until October 15, 10 AM [local time]. Also, keep an eye out for them in snapshots.
- You’ll get themed Field Research tasks by spinning PokéStops. Completing them will reward you encounters with Audino, Rufflet, and more. If you’re lucky, you may get a chance to encounter Shiny Rufflet ✨.
- New avatar items are available in the style shop for free, including Adventure Hat and the Wailmer Water Bottle.
