At the Pixel Fall Launch event yesterday, Google had finally launched the most anticipated device lineup of the year, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Not only the devices, but Google also talked about a lot of stuff that helped it make these perfect and powerful devices. Let’s recap everything that Google talked about in the event.
Pixel 6 / 6 Pro
The center stage of yesterday’s Pixel Launch event is obviously the devices themselves, the next-generation Pixel smartphones – Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Looks-wise, the differences are pretty less, but the hardware makes the real difference between the Pixel 6 and its Pro.
The design aesthetics of both devices are identical and offer a dual-tone design on the rear. Pixel 6 has a matte black aluminum chassis, and the 6 Pro has a glossy stainless steel chassis. The Pixel 6 comes with a 6.4-inch 90Hz Full HD+ (1080p) flat display panel whereas, the Pixel 6 Pro comes with a 6.7-inch 120Hz QHD+ (2K) slightly curved display panel. And the Pixel Pro offers a fluid LTPO display that sets the refresh rate according to our usage; some call it variable refresh rate.
A worth mentioning, both devices are protected by the hardest Gorilla Glass Victus; but don’t drop the device. Both phones are IP68 certified water and dust-resistant.
Apart from the design, Pixel 6 packs a 4614mAh battery, and the 6 Pro packs a 5003mAh battery capacity. Both phones share a 50-megapixel wide primary rear camera with an 82° field-view and a 12-megapixel Ultrawide rear camera. Pixel 6 Pro offers an extra 48-megapixel Telephoto lens that delivers 4x optical zoom. The Pixel 6 Pro has a larger ultrawide front camera that records 4K video, whereas the Pixel 6 has an 8-megapixel wide front camera.
Price and Availability
So, that’s pretty much the difference. Coming to the price, Pixel 6 will cost you $599, and the 6 Pro holds a price tag of $899. Both the devices are available to pre-order in the countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, and Taiwan. The remaining countries may have to wait for a bit longer.

Google custom silicon – Tensor Chip
The brain of the new Pixel lineup is Google Tensor, a mobile system on a chip that Google designed specifically around their ambient computing vision and Google’s work in AI.
The Tensor has an 8-core CPU (2 high and 2 mid-performance cores and 4 high-efficiency cores) and a 20-core ARM Mali-G78 MP20 GPU. It also has a TPU (Tensor Processing Unit) that performs ML tasks and an Image Signal Processor for photography tasks. It houses a security chip and a context hub, which serves ultra-low-power tasks like Always ON Display without draining the battery.
Ultimately, the Pixel 6 with Tensor SoC has an 80% faster CPU and a whopping 370% faster GPU on paper.

Android 12 – Material You
The Pixel 6 series bring the stable Android 12 out of the box. Android 12 makes a huge jump from its previous version in terms of UI and performance. Talking about UI, Google calls it the Material You design that offers immense color and customization logic.
When you change your wallpaper, the entire Android 12 experience changes to match its colors, thanks to advanced color extraction algorithms of Material You design. Also, make a way to new widgets and ultimate customization options, well the phone defines to be completely yours now.
There are so many new privacy features introduced to Android 12; there’s a dedicated dashboard called “Privacy Dashboard.” Android 12 will now automatically resets the permissions given to the applications that are not used frequently, which is great.

Pixel Pass
Google introduces a new way to own the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro with Google’s best mobile services. So now you don’t need to pay entirely for the phone as Google brings a subscription method that offers the device too.
For Pixel 6, it is $45 per month, and for Pixel 6 Pro, it costs $55 per month. These two plans include the Pixel phone and other services such as:

- Google One with 200 GB of safe, reliable cloud storage for full-resolution photos and videos, Google Store discounts, automatic phone backup and more.
