Disney+ will start moving its original series premieres from Fridays to Wednesdays. It’s following the success of Loki.

Loki is officially the most-watched season premiere on Disney+, and it’s no surprise the studio is staking a claim, and releasing original premiers on Wednesdays is the best path ahead.

However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the Wednesday shift only applies to Disney+ Original Series. So shows like The Mandalorian and future Marvel shows may still premiere on Friday.

Previously, the shows, including The Mandalorian, High School Musical, WandaVision, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, launched on Fridays and had to seek weekend attention competing with originals on other streaming platforms until Loki changed the story.

The timeshift begins in July, and specific previously announced Disney Plus original series have moved their release dates.

Here’s the updated list of premiere date changes:

  • Monsters at Work – July 2 to July 7
  • Turner and Hooch – July 16 to July 21
  • Behind the Attraction – July 16 to July 21
  • Chip ‘n’ Dale: Park Life – July 23 to July 28
  • Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts – July 30 to July 28
  • The Wonderful World of Micky Mouse – July 30 to July 28
  • Growing Up Animal – August 20 to August 18
  • Short Circuit season 2 – July 30 to August 4

Disney+ has been and will stay as a top priority for Disney. Recently, the studio reported that Disney+ had grown beyond 103 million subscribers.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix and Amazon Prime typically release their big premieres on Fridays, while HBO Max and Peacock released prominent premiers on Thursdays.
