DC fans have good reason now to rejoice as Diana Price is officially heading to big screens for a third Wonder Woman movie.
Warner Bros. has sped up the development process; Patty Jenkins to write and direct the conclusion of the Super Hero Trilogy. The sequel of the very first is Wonder Woman 1984 is the first one to release on the streaming service on the same day as the theatrical release.
Warner Bros. said the third “Wonder Woman” movie will have a traditional theatrical release.
“As fans around the world continue to embrace Diana Prince, driving the strong opening weekend performance of ‘Wonder Woman 1984,’ we are excited to be able to continue her story with our real-life Wonder Women — Gal and Patty — who will return to conclude the long-planned theatrical trilogy,” said Warner Bros. chief Toby Emmerich.
Although many watched Wonder Woman 1984 at home. Still, it managed to generate surprisingly great ticket sales. It has a strong opening weekend collection of $16.7 million from 2,100 North American theaters; which is the best figure in the pandemic era. HBO Max currently has 12.6 million active users.
According to Variety, Andy Forssell, head of WarnerMedia’s direct-to-consumer business said, “‘Wonder Woman 1984’ broke records and exceeded our expectations across all of our key viewing and subscriber metrics in its first 24 hours on the service, and the interest and momentum we’re seeing indicates this will likely continue well beyond the weekend. During these very difficult times, it was nice to give families the option of enjoying this uplifting film at home, where theater viewing wasn’t an option.”
There is no further information on the final chapter of ‘Wonder Woman’ trilogy. The second was already delayed a lot, hope it won’t be the same way with the final sequel. There is no information or official expected date of release of Wonder Woman 3. Meanwhile, we can see Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in the upcoming movie ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ in 2021. It will be streamed on HBO Max and also have a theatrical release on the same day.
