Android has released another version of their latest Android 12 that is only for large-screen devices. They call this Android 12L, where L stands for ‘Large’ maybe as we are approaching the technology of foldable screens and the market growth for them along with tablets. Until now, there was only one OS that different manufacturers have been customizing according to their devices.

Finally, Google started thinking about other devices apart from smartphones. Last year Android began to work with Samsung to develop a new OS for smartwatches. Now they have brought a different OS for tablets, foldable, and chrome devices. This announcement comes days after the stable version of Android 12 is announced for all the Pixel devices starting from Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

Let’s look at the changes that you will notice in the Android 12L. The first UI change you get to witness is the lock screen. The lock screen will have two parts where you have notifications on one side and time on another side. The second change you will notice is the notification and control panel. Earlier, you had an enlarged notification panel of the smartphone UI; now, you get a proper tablet design with two sections. You get notifications on one side and quick settings on another side. This UI now looks so lovely on the larger screens.

Another recognizable UI change you can notice is the settings page. This also gets two sections where you get a menu and their settings on the other side. Samsung has been using this in their OneUI for a long time, but the tablets using the stock Android didn’t have this feature.

Android 12L timeline

You might expect the stable release of the Android 12L in March 2022. At present, we have the developer preview version stage. From December, we will get to see the beta version of this OS. The first device to get this Android 12L is the Lenovo P12 Pro. Pixel devices will also be getting this update earlier next year.

So, that’s been it. Thank you for reading, and do share the article if you get a bit piece of information. Also, keep an eye on this space for more relevant updates. Stay safe, and we hope to see you around.
