Google on Thursday has announced that it will reduce the subscriptions on App by 50%. Not only the subscription but also the charges that Google takes will be reduced by 50%. The present commission of Google for App subscriptions is 30% for the first year and 15% for the renewals. The new commission will be effective starting from January 1, 2022.

A piece of good news to the App developers from Google. The new commission will be 15% for all the subscriptions from day one. This new commission will allow developers to charge 50 percent less for the first year. Google mentions this announcement through an official blog. The reason for this sudden change of plans by Google seems to be the current pressure on the tech giants to loosen their grip on the online market.

Google, in its blog, mentions that this decision is taken only because of its partner developers. Android has partnered with many app developers in dating, fitness, education, and much more. In the Play Store, 97% of apps are published for free without any subscription. The remaining 3% of apps are the ones that have been offering in-app purchases. Google is expecting this move to help them build more sustainable businesses and make the Play Store lead in the mobile ecosystem.

Google also reduces the service fee in the Media Experience program to as low as 10%. To hear more about the latest tools and API, tune into Android Developers Summit on October 27-28. All thanks to Epic Games for taking the step to file a lawsuit against Apple and Google for their charges in their respective stores.

So, that’s been it. Thank you for reading, and do share the article if you get a bit piece of information. Also, keep an eye on this space for more relevant updates. Stay safe, and we hope to see you around.
