WhatsApp is continuing to add new features to improve its application. The app has been in news from the start of this year. At first, the new privacy policy that WhatsApp has pushed to the second half of the year. After that WhatsApp has filed a case against the Indian government about the new IT rules. When all this aside Facebook-owned company is just adding more secure ways to verify the account. This new way to verify method is still in testing and with the name of Flash Calls.

In general when we try to migrate WhatsApp from an old phone to a new one we often have an OTP verification method. Other than that we also have got an OTP call method. Now WhatsApp is looking to make verification easier with Flash Calls. In order for this verification method to work, you need to give access to WhatsApp to make and manage calls and call logs. So how does this verification actually work? It is simple when you opt for this method WhatsApp will call you and automatically end the call. After that in the call log, it will search for the last caller’s number. Then it will try to match the last number in the log to the number that gives you a 6-digit code.

This feature is still in the beta phase and is reported by Webetainfo. In that article, they mention that this feature will be an Android only. As iOS doesn’t have API to read the call logs. This feature is also an optional feature that means you can still use the traditional 6-digit code received via SMS or Call. WhatsApp also mentions that the call log won’t be used for any other purpose. The company is trying to give this information ahead before it creates a mess like in the issue of the new privacy policy.

So, that’s been it. Thank you for reading, and do share the article if you get a bit piece of information. Also, keep an eye on this space for more relevant updates. Stay safe, and we hope to see you around.
