On September 16, Facebook made an event, which is it’s 7th Facebook Connect conference. This time, it combined virtual and augmented reality announcements in a single two-hour keynote. It includes updates from it’s VR segment Oculus (Oculus Quest 2 announcement), FB’s plans for Ray-Ban smart glasses, and it’s advanced AR initiative “Aria” in that keynote. Let’s have some details.

The Oculus Quest 2 is open for pre-orders

Oculus Quest 2 is like an everything in one device kind of headset featuring far better improvements from its previous version. The unification of all the VR hardware into one headset. Pre-orders are open now, and the shipping will be on October 13. It is available in 22 countries. But Quest 2 is not available in India yet.

It now has 50% more pixels than the earlier quest with a 90Hz supported display. Quest 2 has 6 GB of RAM and powered by the Snapdragon XR2 platform. It either requires iOS 8+ or Android 6+ to work with. And a Facebook login is mandatory this time. The storage option of  64 GB priced at $299 and the 256 GB at $399.

Facebook has plans of making smart glasses with augmented reality for years. Finally, it came up with a Ray-Ban partnership to make it possible. we had no clue with what features it may launch with or when. But the research is going on Facebook’s advanced AI initiative called Aria.

Quest 2 teased as “Infinite Office” displaying its features

Quest 2 teased displaying its VR office space called Infinite Office. Showing it as a business tool in its promotion. It is like multiple screens in front of us with a camera feed in the background. In other words, making it look like Tony stark controlling the holographic screens; But, in VR.

It is now Messenger in-built and Facebook Login. Also, can cast or stream gameplay to the browser. Here take a look at the teased video,

Gaming with Oculus Quest 2

Quest 2 is built for the best gaming experience. Also, Oculus announced a huge list of games already. It includes STAR WARS: TALES FROM THE GALAXY’S EDGE, Ubisoft’s partnership for Assassin’s Creed and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell universes, and more. Oculus teased it as next-level gaming for it’s VR experience with those gamepads.
