Facebook is looking to move in a new direction into hardware. Facebook is not unique to gadgets; it already has Oculus VR headsets that are yet to be sold. Previously in 2013, it had worked with HTC for a smartphone that was a super flop model. Now it is trying to compete in a new market with no experience but colossal competition. Facebook trying to develop a smartwatch isn’t a sudden decision; back in 2019, it attempted to acquire Fitbit just before Google bought it. Since then, Facebook is trying to make a smartwatch of its version.

According to the articles in The Verge and The information, the smartwatch will have two cameras. Yes, a smartwatch with two cameras that the innovation Facebook is trying. There is no official confirmation from the company on this news yet.

Talking about features according to the news is that it will have a detachable display. The watch will have a camera on the back of the watch to take pictures on the smartphone. The front camera is capable of recording video of 1080p for video calling. The main motto of this smartwatch is to have features to replace the smartphone. Facebook is already working with top carriers in the US for LTE support in the watch. This gives us a hint that mobile won’t be required to connect this smartwatch.

In the later version of the watch, the company is looking to make it an input device for the Augmented Reality glasses. This is the vision of Mark Zuckerburg that AR will have multiple inputs that will replace smartphones now in the future. Facebook is already working with a startup that has the concept of controlling a system with wrist movements. Well, with these plans, do you think Facebook might catch up with the smartwatch market. Apple already takes over the premium smartwatch market, and many companies have tried including a camera in their smartwatches but have failed.

Facebook is thinking of launching the new device in summer 2022. The initial sale will only be a small six-digit number. The software on the watch will be a custom version of the Google wearOS. As for the articles, the watch will come in three colors White, Black, and Gold.

So, that’s been it. Thank you for reading, and do share the article if you get a bit piece of information. Also, keep an eye on this space for more relevant updates. Stay safe, and we hope to see you around.
