OnePlus Co-Founder Carl Pei’s new company Nothing today has revealed its first product design. They say that this will be their first wave of products. The company recently was in the news for acquiring the smartphone company Essential. After that acquisition, everyone thought that the company would be manufacturing new smartphones. The tweet by the company CEO Carl Pei seems to be Transparent TWS (True Wireless Stereo) earbuds. They call them Concept 1.
The official blog on the website reveals a pic of the upcoming product. It seems to be transparent TWS earbuds. They resemble the design of the Apple AirPods but with a different material. The main purpose of the reveal is to mention their three key design principles. Their long-term goal is to have no displays or dedicated devices but just some tech that will empower us to be more human. The technology they are talking about is very advanced, according to them.
So in the meantime, they want to be in the existing product category before they start their revolution. The three main things the company focuses on are to have Weightless, Effortless, and Timeless.
We peel off everything superficial, like unnecessary branding on the surface, to focus solely on what adds true value to the user experience. We spend as much time thinking about what we can remove from a product, as what we can add to it.- Weightless
The designs that are the most appealing to us are ones that consist of shapes that look natural and warm, yet don’t easily feel outdated. Concept 1 takes inspiration from a grandmother’s tobacco pipe.- Timeless
