WhatsApp is adding more and more secure ways to use the app. It is now rolling out a new feature called View Once that will delete the image or video after viewing it once. This feature is quite similar to the Snapchat feature. After the user views the picture or the video it will be deleted from the chat. View Once feature is now available in the beta version of WhatsApp.
Well, this feature is coming to Android users first. You can view this feature while you are sharing the media through WhatsApp. Well if you thought this feature is a new secure way of sending media like photos or video, there are some negatives about it. If the other person takes a screenshot of the image you won’t be notified like in Snapchat. If you are a person who has read receipts disabled then this feature won’t work for you. The recipient will be able to see when you see their photo and you cannot see when the receipt viewed your photo or video. You can even set the View Once even in the groups and can view who opened the media. If you send media with the View Once feature on to any user without the feature enabled will still able to only see your media once.
The feature is available to all the Android beta users and iOS beta testers have to wait.
