Hey Fortnite fam, you might already know what’s happening around Fortnite and it’s disappearance on Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store.

“Booyah” it’s gone!!

Let’s have a discussion on “The Reasons Behind”

As we know, Fortnite fame is pretty huge all over the world, then why did both the app stores ditch it? Well, Everything lies around the payment system, According to App store policy, an application developer should build the in-app purchases like the payments must go through the apple store thus it goes securely and protects user data as they claimed it and also the App store gets 30% of cut from it. Got it?? I think you’re already getting The Thing here.

Fortnite usually sell V-Bucks as in-app purchases which are used to buy skins or outfits for their weapons and characters. These in-app purchases previously happened through only the apple store or play store. But now, Epic Games really wanted to change the story here. On August 13th, It introduced Direct Payments system for their users to pay directly to them so then, Epic Games can escape that 30% cut to the stores.

This Direct Payment system might’ve hurt some. Fortnite gives a millions of dollars as a 30% cut to the app stores. So, what can they do now? “Let’s ditch it” said Apple Store. So, it disappeared from the Apple Store at first and later Google Play Store does the same as a Handshake.

Wait, They didn’t shake their hands though, you know… it’s Covid situation.

So after all that, Epic games is the one that got hurt now. Why do a powerful company like that stay silent? No they didn’t. They filed immediate Lawsuits on both the app stores.

Thus, Epic Games declared a war and the amazing thing is all the other application developers actually supporting the Epic Games fight on app stores.

We applaud Epic Games decision to take a stand against Apple.

So, Who’s gonna win? For that answer we shall have another question, What is the goal? Epic Games really want to bring down the monopoly they’re creating and let the app developers can either take right to build direct payments or to decrease that huge 30% cut. Epic Games is really a huge and powerful company to participate in this fight. Remember, it once fought with Sony directly and won on it to make Fortnite purely a cross-platform. On the other hand, even Apple and Google are not that weak to stand back. Let’s see what’s gonna happen further and who is going to win this. Stay tuned to Game N’ Tech for further updates.

By the way, As Epic Games introduced direct payments and got rid of that 30% cut for now, it dropped the prices of V-Bucks and giving a discount of 20%. Enjoy the discount while they fight each other.
