Samsung has taken a major step to provide a more secure software and hardware experience. Recently, Samsung announced that it is extending Android security updates to 4 years. This means the galaxy devices launched since 2019 will get security updates for four years from their initial release.

All Galaxy phones from the Galaxy Z, S, Note, A, M, XCover, and Tab series are eligible for these extended updates. It’s for almost more than 130 models.

In the official blog post, Samsung claimed about its multi-layered security technology called Samsung Knox. It is the same technology that powers the latest Samsung Kiosk, launched in Korea recently.

“Thanks to the latest technology advancements, we’re committing to securing Galaxy devices for even longer, so that everything that should be kept protected stays protected,” said Seungwon Shin, the VP and Head of Security Team at Mobile Communications Department of Samsung.

These are security updates and not major OS updates, so just mind that. Samsung recently promised 3 generations of Android OS major updates for its flagship devices, but that’s a separate thing.

Security updates can be quarterly or monthly; Samsung usually decides that. Also, the update can take longer than usual to get to a specific device, depending on its locale or carrier.

List of eligible Samsung devices to receive 4 years of security updates

Here’s the full list of devices that are eligible for 4 years of security updates. Strangely, the Galaxy A02 and A02s aren’t mentioned. Also, the Galaxy M02 and M02s couldn’t reach the list. However, here is the full list of eligible devices; see if your device got to the list.
