Earlier this month we have got the news about Vivo and its new OS. The Origin OS has now been finally unveiled by Vivo. This OS looks like a change from their original OS which prioritizes widgets. The pictures of the OS looks similar to the new iOS 14 that Apple launched this year. The widgets can also update themselves know as the “nano alerts”.
Vivo says that the OS is based on the three most smartphone demands “design, smoothness, and convenience”. Origin OS was designed to recreate similar features with some new exciting design to create the ultimate smartphone experience.
There are dozens of skins out there for android and FuntouchOS is one of them which is like a brother of iOS. It has a similar notification design, the same transparency use, even the color palette. Some icons also so seem to be from iOS. I have just thought this time Vivo will be moving from that direction to have a unique way of its OS. But Vivo has disappointed me with this new Origin OS.
Earlier this year Apple has launched its new iOS 14 which has the new widget features to apple phones for the first time. Android was having those for almost a decade now. Vivo’s new OriginOS also features more on widgets than other improvements or new designs. The Origin OS is an inspiration from the Chinese variant of Klotski sliding block puzzles says Vivo.
Vivo claims that this new OS will be less RAM consuming than their previous FuntouchOS. We will have to just wait and see for the other designs. Vivo didn’t have any official announcement of when the new OS will be coming to which phone. Vivo did show this on their latest X50.
