Instagram last year brought us the Lite version of the Instagram App. Now they have a new feature in the Lite app that is already present in the main app. The Reels feature is now available to view reels made by various Insta users. The only drawback is that the users still can’t make Reels using this application.

Lite app is a light-weight version of the main app. Facebook does this to all of its social media applications except Whatsapp. Maybe we might witness a Lite version of Whatsapp also. The app is just 2.1MB in download size. It has all the basic functionalities like photo/video uploading, stories, messaging, and more.

The first report was by the XDA Developers Forum, where they showed the reels icon on the new Instagram Lite application. The icon is present just between the upload and profile buttons. We can also notice that it didn’t replace the search or upload button like the main app.

The UI, after going to the Reels tab, is quite familiar to the original. You have to swipe up for the next reel and double-tap to like it. The only catch is that you cannot upload reels using this app. You have to download the main application for this purpose.

Instagram is looking to reach out to many people with this app in India. It might be an alternative to the ex Tiktok users on low-end devices or low internet speed areas. Instagram Lite app is available in regional languages from the day it is launched. The app supports Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Telugu, and Tamil in India.

So that’s it for now. Thank you for reading, and please do share the article within your circles if you loved reading it. Also, keep an eye on this space to get relevant updates. Stay safe, and we hope to see you around.
