There are multiple app stores apart from the famous Google Play Store and Apple App Store. And one such app store is Samsung’s Galaxy Store. It is a third-party app store that is pre-installed on all Samsung phones. The app store is not a great place and is popular as the Google Play Store. Some of the apps in the Galaxy Store have been found to have malware in them.

An initial report by Andriod Police shows some apps that have been found in Galaxy Store like Show Box to contain malware. These apps have been asking for permissions that are not required by the app like phone logs, camera, and etc. The app is a piracy app that shows movies without any license.

I gave Huawei shit for this, gonna do it to Samsung too.

Samsung is hosting literal malware on the Galaxy Store. Google’s anti-virus protection software, built into Play Services, stops the install.

A tipster Max Weinbach reported that the issue was reported mentioning the Showbox app. While downloading the app from Galaxy Store the security of the Google Play Protect gave a warning and stopped the install. A Virustotal analysis while scanning the suspected apps is showing low-grade alerts that include riskware and adware.

Further analysis on this issue done by linuxct reported that these apps can’t install malware but are capable of downloading content that can install malware. Those apps contain ad tech that is dynamically executable. Let’s hope Samsung looks into this issue and takes care of their Galaxy Store by increasing its security.

So, that’s been it. Thank you for reading, and do share the article if you get a bit of information. Also, keep an eye on this space for more relevant updates. Stay safe, and we hope to see you around.
