Samsung is planning to relocate the display factory from China to Uttar Pradesh. The government of Uttar Pradesh says that this will help boost Prime Minister’s flagship drive to make India a manufacturing hub. India is the world’s second-biggest smartphone market with significant growth. On Friday, the Uttar Pradesh government said it would give Samsung Electronics financial incentives to set up a $653.36 million display factory.

Samsung is always known for its best display in the smartphone, and to have the manufacturing company in India would be a nice opportunity for India.

New Delhi earlier the year also has approved financial incentives under a federal plan to boost domestic smartphone production. This federal plan has $6.65 billion for 16 companies, includes Samsung and Apple suppliers Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron.

According to Reuters, On Friday, the UP government said that Samsung would receive Rs. 700 crores of financial benefits. Other than that, Samsung also gets exemption from tax payable on the factory’s transfer of land. This factory is excepted to provide 510 new jobs and will be functional from next year. Samsung also has the biggest factory of mobile manufacturing plants in UP.

Ericson files a lawsuit on Samsung:

On the other hand, Samsung also gets lawsuits filed against them by Ericson. It accuses Samsung of “violating contractual commitments to negotiate in good faith and license patents on Fair, Reasonable and Non-Discriminatory (FRAND) terms and conditions.”

FRAND terms mean that all the technologies such as WiFi, Bluetooth have some patents held by specific companies. Companies using them should get permission from the patent holders for the license grant on fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory terms.
