Apple has launched its new iPhone lineup and new Watch series. This year’s launch has also happened virtually due to the pandemic situation. Now that Apple has launched the iPhone 13 and even the pre-booking has started this Friday. This launch was one of the boring launches that I have ever seen. It seems that Apple is lacking the innovation for the iPhones.
There are some points that I have noticed during the launch. At first, when they have announced the new Watch Series 7 they haven’t mentioned anything about the specifications. They didn’t even mention the chip that the Watch Series 7 will be using. There was no addition of any sensor for health tracking. The one big thing that Apple has announced is the screen. The new Watch Series 7 will be having the highest screen-to-body ratio with very narrow than any Watch series till now. There are rumors about the leak of the data list where the Apple Watch Series 7 will be using the same old processor that Watch Series 6 was using.
Coming to the iPhone the main thing that makes the iPhone special is the Bionic chip. This year Apple has introduced an A15 bionic chipset but hasn’t talked much about it. Until the previous year, we used to have the comparison of improvement to the previous generation chipset. But this year it has just been mentioned that A15 is 50% faster than other competitors. Talking about the design Apple hasn’t made any changes to the design apart from reducing the notch. Apple has changed its phone design after a long time with the 12 series and is sticking to that. But I still can’t understand why Apple is still stuck with the notch design rather than implementing an under-display fingerprint scanner.
Apple is looking to play a safe game with smartphones as it only has four smartphones per year. When compared to its competition Apple is the only company that has very few smartphones coming in a year. Apple previously was known to introduce some innovative ideas to the iPhones. But recently it seems they are more inclined towards the improvement of the camera. As smartphone camera is developing in a fast pace Apple is trying to stay in the race.
When Apple is compared to its rivals mainly Samsung and Huawei it is still lacking in innovation. The latest addition of the 120Hz display in the iPhone 13 Pro has been in use since 2017 by various manufacturers. Apple has many reasons to not include that feature considering the battery life that Apple gives. Apple is still the only phone that still hasn’t got a 4000mAh battery. Considering the power consumption by Apple’s own Bionic chip if it has a 4000mAh battery it would last for more than 1 day and maybe for 2 days for light users.
Let’s just hope that Apple tries to get back to its roots by trying to bring innovation to the smartphone world.
