If you think Apple’s M1 chip is the most powerful chip ever made, then you need to rethink. Apple yesterday launched M1 Pro and M1 Max chip that out beats its previous M1 chip. Last year a benchmark was set with the ARM-powered M1 chip that performs great while draining less battery. Apple says these next-generation chips will give more performance than the M1 while consuming even lesser power.

M1 Pro chip:

M1 Pro chip from Apple is like a perfect update you can find. The number of CPU cores increases from 8 to 10 and the GPU cores from 8 to 16. This looks like an ideal update you can get from a company like Apple. The transistors also count increases from 16 billion to 33.7 billion. The neural engine, though, remains the same as 16 core. The place where Apple has got everyone’s eye is the power consumption. Even though CPU cores and GPU cores have increased, the power consumption will be 70 % less. M1 Pro can support up to 32 GB of unified memory and support two external Pro XDR displays.

M1 Max chip:

What to mention about this chip? Should I say it as the most incredible chip ever built or a God-level chip? The reason for that is straightforward; you will understand after I mention the specifications of the chip. M1 Max will be having the same number of CPU cores as the M1 Pro, i.e., 10-core CPU. But the GPU will a massive jump from 16-core in the Pro to 32-core GPU. The number of transistors is also almost double the number of transistors present on the M1 Pro. M1 Max contains 57 billion transistors with a 400GB/s memory bandwidth and supports 64 GB unified memory. With such a vast number of GPU cores, M1 Max can perform 4x faster graphic performance than M1. This is by far the largest chip that Apple has ever built. The M1 Max can support four external Pro XDR displays. All this can be done just by consuming 40% less power than the M1 chip.

So that’s been it. Thank you for reading, and do share the article if you get a bit piece of information. Also, keep an eye on this space for more relevant updates. Stay safe, and we hope to see you around.
