Samsung and Google will be working together to develop a new smartwatch OS called “Wear”. Google has given this announcement in their I/O 2021. This new partnership might combine the wearOS of Google with the Tizen OS of Samsung used in smartwatches. At present, there is no smartwatch in the Android that can compete with the Apple Watch. This partnership might bring a new OS that might game up the Android smartwatches.

Google and Samsung merges Wear OS and Tizen

Samsung Tizen OS is one the best OS that you can find for Android smartwatches. Google’s wearOS is just like a skeleton OS which gives a mixed feeling about it. Google’s wearOS is just like having the Google Assistant in the watch with support to many third-party apps and drains the battery fast. TizenOS from Samsung, on the other hand, has very good with built-in health and fitness tracking along with a navigation system. Tizen OS also has support to third-party apps but not as many as the wearOS does.

These giants coming together to create a new OS for the smartwatch are just like having a dream. They now call this OS “Wear.” This new “Wear” will be the fastest ever smartwatch OS to open apps and have a longer battery life than the previous versions. Google didn’t reveal anything about this new UI they are co-developing with Samsung but only has given hints of some features.

Previously the button on the watch was used only to return to the homepage or access google assistant, or wake the screen. Now Wear will switch the apps with a double press on the button. For example, you have Spotify and Fit app running; you can switch between them with a double press. Tiles in the watches previously were limited to only some functions or apps. In Wear now, you can create your own tiles and support third-party apps to develop tiles.

Google’s wearOS main issue was with the battery, and now it says that Samsung has shown them to rectify this issue. So even with the sleep tracker and heart rate tracking for 24hours also will drain less battery. With the improvement in the battery’s efficiency, Wear will also be able to open apps 30% faster than previous.
