Samsung is now concentrating on its processors by introducing its first-ever 5nm SoC. This SoC is not a flagship processor but an upper midrange processor that will work as a flagship processor. The Exynos 1080 is the new upper midrange processor launched by Samsung using a 5nm architecture.

Apple is the first to build the world’s first 5nm processor with the A14 Bionic chipset. Now it is the turn of Samsung to keep up the competition with its rival in smartphone processors. That’s enough of the intro now let’s talk about the specs offered by the SoC and know more about it.

Specs:

The new Exynos 1080 will be having the newest Cortex-A78 CPU cores and Mali-A78 GPU. This new SoC is an Octacore CPU with one 2.8GHz Cortex-A78, three 2.6GHz Cortex-A78, and four 2.0GHzz Cortex-A55 cores. According to the report by Samsung, it claims a 50% more improvement of Single-core performance and two times the multi-core performance. The graphics in this will be coming near to the flagship Exynos 990, all thanks to the Mali-A78 MP10 GPU which improves the performance to match the Mali-A77 MP11 GPU.

Samsung is also known for its massive camera hardware like the 108MP on the Note 20 Ultra and S20 Ultra. These big sensors help to capture clearer pictures with more pixels in it. And now with Exynos 1080, they have pushed the limit of support up to 200MP. This new 5nm processor can also support 6 camera modules at the same time. So this means that now we can capture more sharp images and even shoot HDR10+ videos.

We all know about this as the smaller the process the higher the power and lesser the power consumption. This means that the new 5nm processor will have even lesser power consumption than before. Exynos 1080 also supports both the 5G networks (mmWave and sub-6GHz) which supports up to 5.1Gbps of downlink speed.

Another improvement in this SoC is the support of the 144Hz refresh rate in the FD+ displays. It also has support for WQHD+ displays with up to 90Hz refresh rate. The RAM support in this chipset will be LPDDR5/LPDDR4X which means faster access to RAM and faster opening of apps. The storage support is UFS 3.1. The Bluetooth version supported in this chipset will be v5.2 and WiFi of 802.11ax.

Availability:

Vivo to be the first phone other than Samsung to have this 5nm Exynos 1080 processor to achieve the flagship experience with a mid-range chipset. These Exynos 1080 will be coming in phones starting in 2021 according to Samsung. Let’s just wait and watch out for the first phone with this processor and see how it performs.

So that’s it for now. Thank you for reading and please do share the article within your circles if you loved reading it. Also, keep an eye on this space to get relevant updates.

Stay home safe, Stop being a prisoner of your past and become an architect of your future. Hope we see you around.
