Apple places a 3nm chipset order with TSMC. 5nm process technology just came out and Apple and TSMC are ready for big future plans of 3nm chipset production.

TSMC is almost ready with the certification process for the 3-nanometer process. It is likely to trail produce them next year and mass production in 2022. As they sprinted it, Apple is the first one to make a contract for a 3nm initial production capacity. Apple just bagged major quantities to win over Samsung again.

Apple is planning to use that tech for M series chipsets; which Apple planned to power iPads and Macbooks with. Hope iPhones of 2022 will feature the same kind of tech.

Now, it is becoming news before it even shows up. Samsung is also actively promoting a 3nm process move by the company and its mass production is also expected in 2022. TSMC will trail 3nm and 4nm process next year.

As it takes us till 2022 to see the 3nm process in our devices; Therefore, we’ll see only 5nm or 5nm+ chipsets for another year.

According to Economic Daily, TSMC’s 3nm and 4nm trial production preparations are progressing smoothly. Among them, 3nm is actively moving towards the goal of an annual production capacity of 600,000 pieces and a converted monthly production capacity of more than 50,000 pieces. TSMC wants to first launch 4nm to extend the life of the 5nm family. Due to Samsung’s frequent actions, TSMC started operations ahead of schedule.

A14 and M1 are the most powerful chipsets ever made before. Those work on a 5nm process and are the most powerful as well as the most efficient chipsets. Wonder how powerful the 3nm chips can be and how big the comparison numbers will be. Will that be the biggest leap for more years to come? Is hardware developing much faster than any software that can utilize it?

So that’s it for now. Thank you for reading and do share the article if you get a bit piece of information. Also, keep an eye on this space for more relevant updates. Stay safe and we hope to see you around.
